Andrew Merluzzi is an Emerging Technology Advisor on the Emerging Technologies team at USAID. He has worked on a number of the team’s initiatives, including a challenge on gender-equitable AI, a partnership with Mozilla Foundation to re-shape computer science curricula, an Responsible AI training for USAID staff, the USAID AI Action Plan, among others. He has recently provided guidance to the White House on issues related to AI, including the AI Bill of Rights, the National AI R&D Strategy, and the Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. Prior to USAID, Andrew served as a Program Officer at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, an independent, nonprofit institution providing science and technology policy guidance to the U.S. Government and private foundations. Andrew graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2018 with a Masters in Public Policy and a PhD in Neuroscience.
